Like it or loathe it, technology is advancing faster than a meteorite. Every business is now utilizing tools they have at their disposal such as social media, blogging, or video blogs. And while it would have been hard to imagine 20 years ago that these things would be commonplace, they are so ubiquitous with every small business now. Established companies, as well as smaller businesses, need to think two, three, or even four steps ahead of the trends. Technology is where everything is focused. So, what are the biggest tech trends that are coming up? Some you may have already seen, and some may surprise you!

Automation

This is the perfect place to start. We have seen the concept of items being controlled by the internet, such as the Internet of Things, and now you can see it on every sort of business cloud platform, such as Skyresponse, which is used to control alarms within various industries. While automation is usually said in the same breath as devices that are connected to the internet, we are now seeing more larger scale systems being used in this respect. This could mean something like the manufacturing industry gradually becoming automated to such an extent that we won’t need human hands anymore. Of course, this isn’t here now, but it will only be a matter of time before we are seeing these aspects as a major part of our lives in every way.

Interactive Marketing

While we’ve already seen on our Facebook accounts how marketing campaigns are geared towards our specific tastes, or based on our search history, it is going to be far more interactive in a few years’ time. We see event-driven marketing via content such as email, or blogs. Soon we will see the next wave of interactive marketing slowly making its impact on the world through tech such as virtual reality. This means that for businesses, it’s not just seeing a member of staff at the end of an i-chat. Instead, it means that you are able to almost physically interact with the product, and there are online functions where you can do this. For example, you can see what your house would look like in a different color, it is only going to get more and more interactive.

5G

Although we are very familiar with 3G and 4G, the jump to 5G will be coming soon. Contrary to what you may think, this is not just an expansion of the current service. While the difference between 3G and 4G saw video calls turn into high-definition, as well as faster speeds, the current 4G speed of 100 megabits per second, will turn into 10 gigabits per second. This means that we are all going to be able to consume more information than ever before. This means unlimited marketing capabilities for every business, with more information being beamed into televisions, tablets, and, of course smartphones.

We are seeing the future now with the most prominent example being driverless cars. However, the way businesses will operate in the near future with the leaps and bounds in technology, makes this an exciting time!
