Your office will speak loudly about your business. This is where your clients will meet you for the first time, where prospective employees will come for their interview, and the place that your employees work every day. Needless to say, the office should be inspiring, spacious and give an indication of what you are all about.

While you should never neglect your office space, sometimes you just need to take a step back and rethink the whole thing. Even when you are hiring your office and don’t have much opportunity to reinvent the architecture of the space, you do have plenty of opportunities to make sure that your staff is safe and happy when they come to work.

Light and Space

In modern architectural design, light and space are front, middle and center to every new building. As tougher and stronger glass has been created, more glass and steel buildings have gone up. And yet, for many office workers, small windows and dull breeze blocks or plasterboard are the norm.

While you may not be able to knock the building down and start again, switch out fluorescent bulbs and introduce daylight bulbs to create a bright white light in the office. This will help your employees feel awake and energized throughout the day. To create more space, you should focus on bringing people together at large tables rather than split cubicles. This will instantly make the environment more pleasant to work in.

Safety and Security

Feeling safe and secure is vital to your staff health. The first thing to do is make your policies clear, such as where to go in case of a fire or who to talk to about health or social issues like stress or a fallout with a colleague. This will give your staff more confidence that you know what you are doing and prevent any panic should a fire alarm go off.

You might also like to invest in a technology like an ul central station which can monitor the situation in your office even when you aren’t there. This will give you peace of mind that your business is safe while you are away.

Fun and Quirky

While offices are never going to be a home from home, the more you can do to make your staff feel comfortable and inspire creativity, the better your business will be. As you can see from some of the coolest offices in the world, adding quirky details can range from an awesome paint job to connecting floors using slides. At least you know that you have a lot to work with.

Your office should reflect your company ethos and attract the kind of employees you want. So, tech and advertising companies tend to offer a lot of playtime to their employees to encourage more creative thought. This could also work for your business, too, and you should ask your staff what they would like most to improve their space. Even adding a pool table and comfy seating could boost morale significantly.
